Pollution prevention and good housekeeping is the sixth minimum control measure (MCM) required by the EPA and Kentucky Division of Water. The City of Richmond is committed to implementation of pollution prevention practices for our municipal operations.
Why is Pollution Prevention and Good Housekeeping beneficial?
This section of the stormwater program allows the City to help ensure reduction in the amount of pollution that collects on our streets, parking lots, open spaces, vehicle storage areas, and discharge into local watersheds; and maintenance of our storm system.
How does the City of Richmond meet these responsibilities?
The City of Richmond meets current regulations in relation to development and redevelopment. The City also maintains a master Stormwater Pollution and Prevention Plan for all city facilities. This document can be viewed by contacting Stormwater Staff. Examples included training of all staff on the MS4 program, maintenance of city owned properties, and street sweeping.
